Austrian Post: Modern infrastructure begins where everyday life and digitisation intertwine

Österreichische Post AG has opened a new self-service branch at Taborstraße 52 in Vienna’s 2nd district.

This will give numerous companies and households in the vicinity of the Augarten the opportunity to pick up or send their parcels around the clock. The location has also been equipped with a flexible counter, which can be manned by an employee during the high season at Christmas time. This also makes it possible to pick up bulky goods parcels that would not find space in a post office.
The new 24/7 self-service branch has now been officially opened by Alexander Nikolai, District Manager of Vienna-Leopoldstadt, and Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG.

Alexander Nikolai, District Chairman, Vienna-Leopoldstadt: “I am very pleased that the new self-service branch of the post office will further improve the infrastructure for the people of Leopoldstadt. I find the equipment with an ATM and the size of the branch particularly positive, which is particularly important for a district with many residents.”

Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “Modern infrastructure begins where everyday life and digitization intertwine. With the new self-service branch in Leopoldstadt, we are creating an attractive point of contact for our postal services, supplemented by a flexible bulky goods counter at Christmas time and a bank99 ATM for cash supply. In this way, we combine digital convenience with practical proximity for everyone in the neighborhood.”

THE NEW SELF-SERVICE BRANCH IN LEOPOLDSTADT
The new self-service branch covers an area of around 150 m² and offers space for a large post office with around 700 pick-up lockers. Two dispatch stations enable franking and sending parcels or returns, and a bank99 ATM has also been installed on the façade of the self-service branch. The street-side postal advertising window (digital out-of-home screen) also offers an attractive advertising opportunity directly on the heavily frequented Taborstraße. The new self-service branch is bright and spacious, with sustainable furnishings including wooden cladding elements that contribute to a pleasant atmosphere.

At Christmas time, a flexible counter for the collection of bulky goods can be staffed. This relieves the surrounding post office locations and increases comfort for all residents of the neighborhood.
