Pošta Slovenije: Our data centres are among the most modern in Slovenia

At the end of September, Pošta Slovenije handed over its new data centre to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of the Republic of Slovenia, thus building on 20 years of cooperation in the field of renting and leasing data centres. The new data centre, which has been handed over to the Ministry, is connected to the existing two primary data centres, which the Ministry leases from Pošta Slovenije.

“Our data centres are among the most modern in Slovenia, both in terms of technology and security. We are delighted to have further enhanced our cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation by establishing a new data centre, which will contribute significantly to the greater reliability, security and resilience of the national digital infrastructure and enable the further development of modern digital services in Slovenia,” said Marko Cegnar, General Manager of Pošta Slovenije, at the handover of the data centre.

In 2024 and 2025, it carried out a major expansion of the existing capacities, with the new centres designed using renewable energy sources, advanced cooling systems and optimised consumption monitoring, where Pošta Slovenije has also obtained the ISO 50001 certification. Due to the growing demand, the requirements for security, availability and regulatory compliance are also increasing, which Pošta Slovenije successfully ensures with its state-of-the-art infrastructure, ISO 27001 certification and TIER III compliance. When building new data centres, choosing the right location is crucial. It must be suitable in terms of natural conditions, i.e. low seismic and flood risk, and the absence of disturbing infrastructure in the vicinity.

Users of the state-of-the-art data centres of Pošta Slovenije include organisations from a wide range of sectors: financial institutions, telecommunications operators, IT companies, manufacturing and trading companies, online providers and public institutions. All data from the data centres provided by Pošta Slovenije is stored exclusively in Slovenia.

Ksenija Klampfer, the Minister of Digital Transformation, emphasised: “We need a reliable ecosystem – from secure and energy-efficient data centres to the use of artificial intelligence, cloud solutions and high-quality data sources. The new centre we have opened is more than just a technological facility – it is infrastructure that will enable the further development of eGovernment and modern public services, and promote innovation and the economy. At the same time, it proves that the state, public companies and the technology sector can successfully cooperate in creating the digital future of Slovenia.”

With expanded capacities and advanced infrastructure, Pošta Slovenije provides users from various sectors with reliable, secure and sustainable IT support tailored to the needs of modern business.
