“Solar power is the next major step in building a future-proof locker network”, says YEEP!
YEEP! has launched the country’s first and largest solar-powered parcel locker network, with over 700 already live across the UK. These new lockers mark a major step forward in sustainable last-mile delivery, combining convenience, innovation and low-maintenance design to make parcel collection and returns easier than ever.
The launch builds on YEEP!’s mission to make deliveries and returns simpler, smarter and more sustainable. Like YEEP!’s existing battery-powered units, the new lockers are completely plug-free, requiring no mains connection or groundworks. But the latest generation goes a step further – powered by integrated solar panels and long-life rechargeable batteries that eliminate the need for replacements, reducing maintenance while extending their lifespan.
“This is another leap forward for YEEP! parcel lockers in the UK,” said Noël Shapton, YEEP! CEO and Co-Founder. “By harnessing solar power, we’ve created lockers that are not only convenient and sustainable, but truly self-sufficient, offering the same fast, flexible service for users while being completely hassle-free for hosts.”
The new lockers retain all the benefits that have made YEEP! one of the UK’s leading out-of-home parcel networks: they’re stand-alone, require only relatively level solid ground, and can be installed quickly with zero disruption or cost to hosts. Hosts benefit from guaranteed annual income and increased footfall, while customers enjoy a secure, 24/7 delivery option that reduces missed parcels and cuts emissions by consolidating multiple drop-offs into one convenient location.
As part of its major partnership with DPD, which will see 8,000 new lockers added over the next five years, YEEP! continues to expand its network and introduce next-generation technology to make parcel lockers a reliable, sustainable alternative to home deliveries.
“Solar power is the next major step in building a future-proof locker network, and we’re proud to be pioneering it in the UK,” added Shapton. “We’ve already proven that battery-powered lockers can drive footfall and simplify deliveries—now we’re proving they can do it while running entirely on renewable energy.”
