Austrian Post takes a “significant step” towards a denser postal network in Tyrol

In April, the Tyrolean food retail chain MPREIS and Österreichische Post AG launched a cooperation to expand the postal service and are now drawing a positive balance after the first half of the year.

17 selected MPREIS branches have already been expanded by a postal partner and now offer all postal services as well as the most important financial services of bank99. In addition, 24/7 post stations were also set up at 21 MPREIS locations for the collection of parcels. Other locations will follow.

Ingo Panknin, Member of the MPREIS Management Board: “With 17 Postpartner service points and 21 pick-up stations at MPREIS, we are taking important steps towards modern, multifunctional local supply. The very positive response from our customers shows us that we are on the right track with this offer. Together with Austrian Post, we want to make everyday life even easier – with short distances and a comprehensive range of services from daily shopping to postal and banking services.”

Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “Our successful cooperation with MPREIS represents a significant step towards further densification of our postal network in Tyrol. Smaller companies in particular have been severely affected by the recession in recent years and have had to cease their business activities, which has also affected some postal partners. With MPREIS, we now have a strong and established partner at our side who is present throughout Tyrol and beyond.”

FOCUS ON TYROL: MORE POSTAL PARTNERS AND MORE POST STATIONS
In the past six months, 17 new postal partners have already been opened in MPREIS branches. After an intensive training phase, MPREIS employees at these locations now also offer postal services, bank99 financial services and the sale of postal merchandise and packaging material. The focus is on Tyrol, but locations have also already been opened in Carinthia and Salzburg:
