Maier appointed Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East & Africa region

DHL Global Forwarding, Freight, the air and ocean freight specialist of DHL Group, has appointed Tobias Maier as Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East & Africa region, effective December 1, 2025. He succeeds Amadou Diallo, who is stepping down after more than eight years of leadership of the region.

Tobias Maier has extensive experience in finance, digital innovation and strategic growth. Since joining DHL in 2008, he has held several leadership positions, most recently as CFO for the Middle East & Africa region and as CEO of Saloodo! Middle East & Africa, DHL’s digital freight platform. Tobias has played a pivotal role in regional M&A activities, expanding the company’s presence in key markets such as Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as introducing innovative solutions such as DHL’s RailDirect joint venture with Etihad Rail.

“Tobias is a forward-thinking leader with a strong track record, focus on results and innovation,” said Oscar de Bok, CEO DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. “His deep understanding of the region and his commitment to digital transformation make him the ideal choice to lead our business to the next phase.”

Amadou Diallo leaves behind a legacy that has prioritized growth and innovation, always characterized by a strong culture of collaboration. Since his appointment in 2017, he has significantly expanded DHL Global Forwarding’s presence in the Middle East and Africa, driven sustainable logistics solutions and led a period of significant investments in these strategically important markets. He has over 30 years of experience in international leadership positions in logistics and finance within DHL Group. Previously, he was CEO DHL Freight and CEO DHL Global Forwarding for regions in the South Asia-Pacific region. Born in Senegal, Amadou Diallo is a passionate advocate for youth development in Africa and actively supported initiatives in the areas of health care and food security through his philanthropic and volunteer work.

“We are deeply grateful to Amadou for his outstanding leadership and tireless commitment to our employees, customers and partners,” added de Bok. “His vision and passion have left a lasting impression on our organization.”
