DHL Group CEO: we remain confident about the dynamic Indian market

DHL Group will invest around EUR 1 billion in India by 2030 across all business units. This investment underlines DHL Group’s confidence in the dynamic Indian market and is in line with its Strategy 2030 to accelerate sustainable growth.

The multi-year investment programme covers key sectors such as life sciences and healthcare, new energies, e-commerce and digitalisation. Key infrastructure projects include:

  • The first DHL Health Logistics Hub in Bhiwandi
  • India’s largest low-emission Blue Dart site in Bijwasan
  • The first automated sorting center for DHL Express India in New Delhi
  • The fifth DHL IT Services Center and the first technology academy in Indore
  • A centre of excellence for electromobility and battery logistics in Chennai and Mumbai
  • A central, low-emission ground transportation hub for Blue Dart in Haryana

“Global trade has faced some headwinds recently, but we remain confident about the dynamic Indian market. The country’s diversification strategy and business-friendly framework conditions provide a solid basis for long-term investments. With our investment program of around EUR 1 billion, we are expanding reliable and more sustainable logistics solutions for our customers in India,” said Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group.

India is also becoming a global technology hub for DHL Group with over 1,300 digital and logistics specialists. The new IT Services Center and Academy in Indore will train employees in automation and AI, thus contributing to DHL Group’s digitalization strategy.

India’s growing role in global trade

According to DHL Group’s Global Connectedness Tracker, the average distance in India’s trade in goods will grow to 6,190 kilometers in 2025 (2024: 6,090 kilometers). This reflects the increasing trade with 24 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Americas. With its global network in 220 countries and territories, DHL Group is well positioned to support India’s growing role in international supply chains.

Sustainability and digitalisation as drivers of Strategy 2030

DHL Group is committed to reducing CO₂ emissions to 29 million tons by 2030 and to becoming climate-neutral by 2050. In India, this includes vehicle fleet electrification, low-emission sites, and the GoGreen Plus program, which enables lower-emission shipping through alternative fuels and electric vehicles.
