Posten Bring: The pre-Christmas period is the most hectic and fun period of the year for us

The peak season for purchasing Christmas gifts is already underway, and when Black Week starts next week, very large parcel volumes are expected at Posten Bring‘s terminals. Now the group has brought in extra crews – and new robots are helping – to take away all the parcels that will be delivered to the entire country.

“The pre-Christmas period is the most hectic and fun period of the year for us. To ensure fast and safe delivery for Christmas, we have a record number of delivery points and extra staff both at the terminals and in the distribution, says Executive Vice President Hans-Øyvind Ryen. This leads to high activity for postmen, drivers and terminal workers at Posten Bring,” says Executive Vice President Hans-Øyvind Ryen.

Well before the Christmas holidays begin, large quantities of packages are arriving at terminals, distribution units and the record 3,700 delivery locations across the country. This leads to high activity for postmen, drivers and terminal workers at Posten Bring.

“We have good experience in handling and securing Christmas for residents in every nook and cranny across the country, but we always want to develop and do even better than the previous year. Therefore, we have taken a number of concrete measures to ensure good flow and delivery of packages and Christmas mail to both Norway and abroad,” continues Ryen.

Among the innovations this year are six robotic arms at the Østlandsterminalen in Lørenskog that feed Northern Europe’s largest sorting machine for small packages. This frees up capacity that can be used elsewhere at the terminal.

“Even though the robots never take a vacation, need a coffee break or forget where they put their gloves, it’s our people who make the wheels turn. Without them, Christmas simply stops,” explains the CEO.

At the country’s collection points, extra space has been cleared to take away all the packages that arrive, but CEO Ryen still has a friendly appeal to everyone who will be sending and collecting packages before Christmas.

– If you receive a pickup notification, we encourage you to stop by and pick up the package as quickly as possible. This will help both us at Posten Bring and your local pickup location, so that we can replenish it with new packages. We greatly appreciate that, concludes Ryen.

This is how Posten Bring has prepared for this year’s peak season:

  • 3,700 delivery locations from Lindesnes in the south to Longyearbyen in the north. Never before have there been so many places to pick up and deliver packages at Posten.
  • Over 700 extra employees have been brought in for this year’s peak season to handle the extraordinary volumes of packages and letters, while customer service alone is bringing in approximately 40 employees to help customers with their questions.
  • Customer service opening hours will also be extended to 7:00 PM in the run-up to Christmas, meaning they will be open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturdays. Chat and voice bots will be available 24/7.
  • Use the Posten app to track packages and order shipments. You will also receive pickup notifications from Posten Bring there.
  • Remember that packages must be collected within seven days of arriving at the collection point. However, Posten Bring encourages everyone to collect packages as soon as possible after receiving the collection notice. If you need to extend the collection deadline, this can be easily done in the Posten app.
  • As is tradition, everyone employed at the Post Office will also be working during the pre-Christmas period to help and relieve the burden of package handling, distribution and sorting.
