The APC: our transition to new ownership represents an exciting next chapter

The Alternative Parcels Company Limited (The APC)  has announced its business results for the 2024/25 financial year, with 3.6% year-on-year growth in operating profit, totalling £7.4 million.

The APC also saw growth across its niche services, such as fragile, security and liquid, and experienced an increased demand for the shipment of larger items, reporting turnover for the financial year amounting to £128 million, an increase in revenue of 1.19%.

The 2024/25 results highlight The APC’s sustained growth and deep-rooted commitment to delivering service excellence to its SME customers, in what continues to be a challenging economic environment with fluctuating consumer confidence impacting behaviour. The APC’s commitment to the growth and support of its customers was further recognised as the network was named ‘Best Parcel Delivery Network’ in the UK Enterprise Awards in July 2024, as voted for by customers.

The APC welcomed new depot members in Hertfordshire, Liverpool, Glasgow and Cornwall, and reviewed and expanded its service offering, further highlighting its dedication to maintaining a strong independent network to support and grow its SME customer base.

Mark Fletcher, Chief Financial Officer at The APC, said: “Our latest financial results reflect steady and sustained growth driven by the resilience, adaptability and strength of our network. We remain committed to growing and supporting our customers during what continues to be a turbulent economic environment and our local-first approach remains fundamental to achieving this.”

A number of investments were made in the 2024/25 financial year to support the enhancement of the customer and consumer experience, from improved advice messaging and upgraded reporting tools, to the expansion of its Click and Collect partnership with Parcelly, which now operates across 1,650 locations across the UK. SMS reminders were also introduced as part of the partnership expansion to improve parcel collection rates.

The APC also invested in enhancing its business operations, with the introduction of 65 new aerodynamic double-deck trailers and 20 new tractor units to support its sustained growth and parcel volumes.

The safety and welfare of its people remained a top priority, which was shown in the business winning the RoSPA Gold Award for the second consecutive year, after four years of achieving silver. The APC also introduced feedback programmes and expanded its career development opportunities for its teams.

In July 2025, The APC announced a transition to new ownership, formed of WS Holdco Limited, DBAY Advisors Limited and investors, which marked a significant milestone in the company’s strategy and its continued focus on supporting the long-term future of its network and SME customers.

Mark Fletcher added, “Last year we marked 30 years of The APC, and our transition to new ownership represents an exciting next chapter. The business and the network are well placed for the next stage of growth, and I’m looking forward to building on our previous successes as we continue supporting our colleagues and SME customers for years to come.”
