The charity campaign carried out by Correos and UNICEF began on 1 October

The campaign to collect writing material for children in developing countries, which Correos has organised for the eighth successive year with UNICEF, will finish on 30 November. As a result, both organisations would like to remind all members of the public that there are still three days left in which to deposit pens, pencils, notebooks, pencil sharpeners and erasers (preferably new), in the 2,100 special post boxes placed by Correos in its offices throughout Spain.

50,000 information posters and 155,000 pamphlets have been distributed in the post offices, and posters and other information material has also been distributed to approximately 3,000 schools in areas where there is a branch of Correos to promote the campaign and request the help of all members of the public.

All the material collected will be used in introductory writing programmes carried out by UNICEF. This year, the material will be sent to El Salvador to support the introductory writing programmes taking place in that country. In the seven campaigns that have taken place in previous years, over 1,100 tonnes of writing material were collected.
