Saudi Post Sets Up Biggest e-Portal

The Saudi Post has established the biggest e-portal in the Kingdom on the World Wide Web in order to provide information about the post service to the public. The portal includes e-commerce and a list of the post products and services that are offered for sale.

The site also has the facility to accept online payment and gives the customer the choice of packaging and monitoring his mail from the moment of shipment to the time of arrival.

Mohammed Bantan, president of the Saudi Post, said that the site offers e-letters and e-telegraphs in addition to greeting cards, where customers can choose the card and write their message and then the Saudi Post would print it and send it to its destination.

The Saudi Post had taken into consideration the quality of the site’s content and services in an informative and a user-friendly manner, Bantan said. He added that the most important services in the site include the postal location service where the customer can monitor his post.

Customers could also request through the site to have their post or parcels delivered to their own homes just by adding the number of their post boxes. Customers could also get the price cost of their required mail instantly by adding information about the weight and destination.

Bantan said that the site also had a locator facility that allowed the visitor to locate main postal offices, locations of certain postal boxes in addition to public facilities in each city.

This locator facility, he said, would include a precise map of the location of the selected post box thus providing a useful method for public authorities to establish the location of any reported problem.

He said that the locator service currently covered Riyadh, Jeddah, Eastern Province, Madinah, Jizan, Khamis Mushayt, Abha, Auhud Rafidah and very soon it would cover the whole Kingdom.
