DPD parcel volumes increased by 34 per
Small parcel delivery service “DPD” rendering company „DPD Lietuva“ has delivered 2,1 million parcels during year 2006. It is 33,9 % more than in 2005, when company delivered 1,6 million parcels.
The late years company results and constantly accomplishing market researches are showing that the sector of parcel shipping services in Lithuania is growing stably, and market players, who meet growing needs of their regular clients has already settled in Lithuania“, – said Gintaras Bingelis, “DPD Lietuva” Sales and Marketing Director for the Baltic States.
According to him, despite the growing value of post shipments market and increasing amount of parcels, logistics is not among company’s business management areas priorities in our country.
„With reference to statistical data, we are in the last place in Europe by sent parcels amount per one resident. The main reason of it is extremely simple attitude of managers to logistics, control of its processes and setting of tasks. Lithuanian businessmen do not fully evaluate the value that logistics create for business, as they do not count benefits of service in a long-term perspective“, – said G. Bingelis.
According to him, the main criterion for selecting the service remains its cost. Besides, businessmen do not commit enough time and humane resources to analyze and to decide how to use the service effectively, for it would become a tool that would create added value for business and in the same time financial benefit.
„Due to these reasons one of the most important tasks for logistics specialists is to consult businessmen, to form a correct attitude to company‘s logistics, its measure and role in business development “, – said G. Bingelis.
In 2006 small parcels delivery company decided to change its name from „Baltic Logistic System Vilnius“ to „DPD Lietuva“ and the brand from „Bizpak“ to „DPD“. And in December 2006 it has ended the first stage of re-branding. In January of this year „DPD Lietuva“ suggested two new delivery routs for Lithuanian market – delivery of parcels to the new EU countries – Bulgaria and Romania.
