DHL Express (Malaysia) aims to increase its market share
DHL confident plans will deliver higher mart share
LOGISTICS giant DHL Express aims to increase its market share by another one to two per cent by end of this year.
It currently leads the local express delivery market with more than 40 per cent market share.
“What makes us successful is because we understand our customers and we deliver what the market requires,” DHL Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd country manager for Malaysia and Brunei Sam Leong said yesterday.
Its plans for the year include doubling the number of DHL Servicepoints to six by end-2007, from the present three Servicepoints in Bangsar, SS2 and Menara Axis.
The three new Servicepoints will be set up in Penang, Johor Baru and the Klang Valley. With these Servicepoints, customers can easily pick up or drop off packages.
“Although we provide pick-up services, we found that some customers prefer Servicepoints. These are customers who are always on-the-go and do not spend much time in the office. The Servicepoints allows them to do the drop-off at their convenience,” Leong said after the opening of DHL’s new Klang Valley Service Centre.
The service centre, located in Glenmarie Shah Alam, was officially opened by Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz.
The service centre has a built-up cost of RM21 million and features, among others, a fully automated material handling system.
With the new service centre, DHL can sort 5,000 packages a day compared with 3,000 packages a day previously and “still have lots of room to expand”, Leong said.
Also present at the launch were DHL Express South East Asia senior vice president Yasmin Aladad Khan and Kompakar Inc Bhd chairman Tunku Datuk Seri Shahabuddin Tunku Besar Burhanuddin.
DHL Express Malaysia is also looking to introduce more routes for its customers.
