GBP 2m investment keeps TNT Sameday in Pole Position in the UK

The instant-response arm of Britain’s leading business-to-business express delivery company has unveiled a multi-million pound investment programme to keep the business at the top of the ‘Premier League’ of the UK same day delivery market.

The GBP 2 million initiative will see an innovative deployment of TNT Sameday’s army of 1,700 drivers, a new web-based Storapart distribution service designed to enhance speedy despatch of parts to engineers plus the introduction of state-of-the-art ‘mobile worker’ units to each driver. Each element is viewed as a critical component in the TNT drive for customer service excellence in 2007.

Alistair Cochrane, Divisional Director, TNT Network Services, said: “We’re determined to take TNT Sameday to the next level in an increasingly competitive market place.

“We’ve invested heavily in two new IT systems – the Sameday Common Operating System to better maximise the efficiency of our drivers, plus an additional suite of software to improve our Storapart offering.

“This, plus an investment in excess of GBP 850,000 for our new in-cab mobile worker units, underlines our intention to deliver incredible levels of customer service.”

At the touch of a key, the new Common Operating System will automatically calculate parcel delivery rates, recommend the closest driver available for a collection and allocate drivers’ payments.

Alistair added: “Information technology helps us to create a competitive edge and enables us to operate to our optimum levels on a national and international scale.

“The new common operating systems provide a global solution for our global presence at a local level. They are cultural step changes within the industry that we passionately believe will meet the needs of our customers in a changing world.”

The new warehouse stock management system of TNT’s Storapart service – called Storapart Distribution System (SDS) – creates a common approach across TNT the Storapart sites throughout the world, providing a consistently high level of customer service.

Alistair said: “SDS is an exciting development because it links in all systems around the world for TNT. This means we can source parts that much quicker – so our customers benefit from faster receipt of vitally needed parts and equipment.

“Creating unsurpassed levels of service will only further consolidate our market-leading position which is great news for all TNT Sameday customers throughout the UK.”
