DHL Express appoints Christina Koh
DHL today announced the appointment of Christina Koh as Senior Vice President – Corporate Communications and Sustainability for DHL Express globally. Christina moves into this newly-created position from her current role as DHL Asia Pacific’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Sustainability.
In her new role, which takes effect on 1 May 2007, Christina will be based at the DHL Express global headquarters in Bonn, Germany, and will work closely with the DHL global, regional and country teams in developing and steering the internal and external communications efforts for DHL Express worldwide.
John Mullen, DHL Express’ Global Chief Executive Officer, congratulated Christina on her new appointment, noting: “With her varied and extensive experience in the communications field and her knowledge of the various regional challenges, we are confident that Christina will continue to strengthen DHL Express’ corporate communication efforts globally, further enhancing the company’s public and media profile, and upholding our global leadership within the industry.”
Christina joined DHL Asia Pacific in 2002, where she established the first regional corporate communications division for the company in Asia Pacific. From an initial small team, she built and led a group of communications specialists, and oversaw the communications strategies for the company’s 41 countries and territories in the region. She aligned, coordinated and developed communications strategies for DHL’s Asia Pacific business units – DHL Express, DHL Exel Supply Chain and DHL Global Forwarding – ensuring that DHL continues to strengthen its brand profile as the market leader in the industry. Through events and sponsorships, as well as speaking platforms at seminars, she also formed strategic business partnerships with relevant external stakeholders, further enhancing DHL’s corporate reputation.
She will continue to drive DHL Express’ corporate sustainability efforts on a global level. During her five years in DHL Asia Pacific, she successfully piloted and matured the company’s Corporate Sustainability strategy for the region, an important component of which is the Managing Disaster Response program, which outlines the company’s prompt and comprehensive action and communication plan towards disaster management by using DHL’s core expertise in logistics and transportation. DHL Asia Pacific was accorded an industry award for its comprehensive communications on the company’s disaster management efforts during the 2004 Asian Tsunami.
In other community investment efforts, Christina was also instrumental in launching the DHL Young Entrepreneurs for Sustainability Awards (or DHL YES Awards), which aim to identify and recognize the contribution of young individuals who are evolving new and innovative methods and practices to bring about positive social change in their communities in Asia Pacific.
