La Poste beats financial targets

La Poste has posted net profit of 789m euros for 2006, up 42 per cent year-on-year, which was well beyond its target.

Operating profit for the same period came in at 949m euros, up 22 per cent, on turnover of 20.1bn, up 4.3 per cent. Jean-Paul Bailly, the group’s CEO, said that the results were better than expected overall and that an improvement had been seen across all sectors of activity. He also pointed out that the group had registered consistent growth since 2002.
