FedEx Russian partner EMEX expands express network

Russian express company EMEX, the FedEx licensee in the country, has announced major expansion plans to extend its network and offer new services. It aims to double turnover this year and in 2008.

EMEX, a subsidiary of Swiss-based holding company TransInvest Group, said that it will open a new branch in Novosibirsk this month, its 25th office, and aims to have 35 branch offices and agencies across Russia by the end of this year. Established in 2003 with a single office in Moscow, the company now has outlets in most major Russian cities as well as a network of agents covering various regions.

“About six months ago we began setting up our own offices in the most important regional centres. This helps us develop our market position faster – using our own staff, our own sales persons, and EMEX’s offensive philosophy,” said managing director Alessandro Giannubilo. But it will continue to work with local and regional agents due to the sheer size of the Russian Federation.

“Our network is growing constantly”, Giannubilo explained, “yet we are already very well established on the Russian inland market and we will double our turnover this year, and next year, too. We expect the high rate growth of the Russian economy and of direct foreign investment in Russia to continue – and with it an increasing demand for express and distribution services.

EMEX is specialised in express services for documents and parcels, and the express distribution of big volumes throughout the Russian Federation, and serves more than 2,000 destinations through its network. It offers international export via the FedEx network.

It recently launched time definite express delivery within Moscow and the surrounding region using its own fleet of vehicles. There are plans to develop similar express and distribution services for other large cities in the near future.
