Saudi Post’s parcel service wins laurels
Saudi Post (SP) through its Express Mail and Parcels Administration has launched a new service called “Indian Par Ex,” which is dedicated to the Indian expatriate community who will now be able to send parcels to India at SR6 a kilo.
SP also guarantees parcel will be delivered in a maximum of 12 days and in case of delay, the corporation will refund people’s money along with the cost of parcel’s contents. In addition, parcels costing less than SR800 do not need to pay custom fees.
According to a Saudi Post official, sending parcels to India used to cost SR119 per parcel and that it used to sometimes take around 15 days for the parcels to reach their destinations. He added that Indians send around 300 parcels annually and so SP decided to offer competitive prices.
Saudi Post also recently won an award at the 8th World Mail Awards 2007, which was held in the Novotel London West Hotel. SP Post won the award in the “Transformation” category for the creation of its Naqel carrier.
According to Saudi Post President Dr. Muhammad Bantan, the king approved the Naqel project last October, which now serves 5,000 cities and villages in the Kingdom via 6,000 branches.
The competition attracted 11 international postal companies, including Pitney Bowes, Q-Post, Royal Mail, Western Union, Australia Post, DHL, Emirates Post, IBM, Intermec, Magyar Posta, and Saudi Post.
Bantan told the press in London that all that SP needs is some time and cooperation to enhance its facilities and services. He thanked SP employees for their dedication that led them to win this award.
Bantan also revealed that SP is getting ready to host the first International Conference on Information Technology and Communications in November in Jeddah. The event will be opened by Crown Prince Sultan.
