Q-Post signs pact with Doha bank

Q-POST and Doha Bank yesterday signed an agreement under which the post office would print, develop and envelop the bank’s monthly statement to be delivered to its customers.

The Q-Post chairman Ali Mohamed al-Ali said the Q-Post had been taking up similar ventures with other companies after the installation of a new multi-purpose sorting machine at its head office two years ago.

Al-Ali said the new arrangement would enable the bank to deliver the monthly statement in less than 24 hours after it was prepared and enveloped at the General Post Office.

Usually, the same job would have taken anywhere between four to seven days, he said.
The Q-Post chairman said the corporation had earlier handled the distribution of Doha Bank’s ATM and Visa cards.

Al-Ali said the handling of monthly statements called for more confidentiality and security and this was one of the reasons why Q-Post was chosen.

E-services likely by next year

Q-POST is planning to introduce electronic post (e-Post) services next year.

Q-Post IT manager George Scott Campbell said yesterday the corporation was prepared to face the challenges at a time when paperless postal services were becoming the order of the day all over the world. Campbell said the corporation was carrying out its necessary software upgrading to meet the requirements.

Along with the e-post services, other changes would also be introduced, said the official.
The introduction of digital stamps would be one among such major changes, he added.
