TNT's Very Important Hi-Tech Contract Powers Up

The technology arm of express delivery giant TNT has teamed up with one of Britain’s biggest IT distribution companies to ensure the speedy delivery of thousands of PC components and software products to hundreds of High Street retailers and PC builders.
TNT’s latest deal with VIP Computers, for an undisclosed fee, is the start of a close partnership between the two companies to ensure seamless service to VIP’s customers.

John Peden, Strategic Account Manager, TNT Technology Express, said: “We’re delighted to have won this contract with VIP Computers – we have spent a long time building a relationship with them.

The contract will also include a small number of international deliveries, where the 56-bay TNT depot at Liverpool John Lennon Airport will be utilised. The depot currently handles more than half a million deliveries on the international side of the business each year.

Tom Jones, Logistics Manager at VIP, said: “Our partnership with TNT is very exciting. It will provide customers in non-centralised UK locations better support, with more vehicles on the road. TNT will also provide larger vehicles covering smaller delivery areas, ensuring full orders are delivered in one drop.

“With VIP’s volume of LCD TVs increasing we needed a carrier to support careful delivery to our customers. We are delighted to be partnering with such an experienced and reputable business.”

John added: “We’ve tried as much as possible to integrate with VIP IT systems to provide a seamless, real-time information exchange between their systems and ours (based on world standard XML technology).

“This means VIP can easily and safely integrate TNT information into their website and intranet, making it much simpler to manage business processes. Our Track & Trace system also provides VIP with accurate, world-wide, up-to-the minute information regarding the status of their shipments – from collection to final delivery.”
