ORIGINAL TITLE: Ukraine: DHL has formed a joint venture with Ukrainian post office Ukrpochta. ABSTRACT: Ukraine: DHL has signed an agreement with Ukrainian post office Ukrpochta, enabling the sale of international air express delivery services that will be jointly branded Ukrainian Post-DHL. Initially, the service will focus on items weighing up to a maximum of 20 kilos. Shipments dropped off at the Ukrpochta centers will be delivered to over 200 countries over the DHL Worldwide Express network. According to Research International, in 2000, DHL controlled 60% of the Ukrainian air express delivery market. DHL itself claims that sales volumes are up by 18% this year, and increased demand for air express delivery in Ukraine prompted the introduction of a regular cargo flight between Kiev and Luxembourg. DHL already has agreements in place with Uzbekiston Pochasti in Uzbekistan and Belpochta in Belarus. DHL has been operating on the Ukrainian market since 1991 and currently has 20 agencies and offices serving over 100 Ukrainian cities. Ukrpochta is the only state postal network represented in all regions of Ukraine and is the largest operator on the country’s postal dispatch market. Page 3 © 2001 Resp. DB Svcs. All rts. reserv.
