Emirates Post And Emirates Nationals Development Programme Partner To Boost Emiratisation In Mail Sector
Emirates Post Holding Group and Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost Emiratisation in the mail sector through a series of measures, including a three-month ‘Postal Diploma’ programme, to be conducted by the Emirates Post Training & Development Centre, Dubai.
The new initiative was unveiled at a press conference addressed by H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister for Public Sector Development & Chairman of Emirates Post Holding Group, H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of ENDP, and Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, President of Emirates Post Holding Group. The joint initiative is in response to the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on creating new opportunities for Emirati youth in various fields, especially in the private sector.
The MoU seeks to establish a framework for expanding cooperation between Emirates Post Holding Group and ENDP in providing training to Emarati youth in mail-related areas in order to boost Emiratisation. The Postal Diploma project has been designed to raise UAE nationals’ skills and professional capabilities for taking up positions in Emirates Post Holding Group and private sector companies engaged in mail activities. Addressing the media, H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, said: “We welcome this partnership with Emirates Nationals Development Programme, because this will make Emirates Post one of the major players in boosting the Emiratisation drive. The programme will ensure that young Emiratis seeking jobs could equip themselves with the right skills and knowledge to enter the mail sector. This joint initiative should serve as a model for other organizations wishing to create job opportunities for Emiratis and help accelerate the pace toward Emiratisation in new sectors.”
H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer said: “Our partnership with Emirates Post will go a long way in fulfilling the aspirations of young Emiratis to find careers in the mail industry, one of the most vibrant and fast developing industries in the global. With right skills, Emiratis could make a strong contribution to mail service sector.
He added:” We look forward to a fruitful relationship with Emirates Post that represent the suitable strategic partner toward boosting the existence of Emaraties in the mail industry.”
Abdulla Al Daboos said: “Emiratisation is one of our top priorities today and we will work jointly with ENDP to devise more effective policies to generate employment opportunities for Emirati job-seekers. We are confident that UAE nationals will give their best to any organization, after they have completed the Postal Diploma. We will continue to enhance the program to meet the standards expected by the private sector.”
Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Wiaam Ghanem, Director of Emirates Post Training & Development Centre, Mrs. Azzah Al-Sharhan, Director of Emirates Nationals Development Programme and senior officials from Emirates Post Holding.
According to the MoU, the Postal Diploma programme will be for three months, at the end of which the candidate will receive a Diploma endorsed by Emirates Post Holding Group.
The Training and Development Centre has been conducting training programs for postal employees from Arab countries, including Qatar and Oman. The Centre also conducts training courses for Emirates Post employees on a regular basis. The courses offered by the Training Centre conform to UPU’s TRAINPOST program. Most courses incorporate the elements of ICDL and Profiles International. In 2007, the Training Centre provided training to 1,341 persons through a total of 191 coureses.
