TPG, Hermes reportedly plan joint postal service in Germany

The Dutch postal service TNT Post Group NV (TPG) and Hermes are preparing a joint postal service, EP Europost AG & Co KG, in Germany which would be the first serious competition with blanket coverage for Deutsche Post AG, the weekly magazine WirtschaftsWoche reported, citing industry sources. EP Europost will be registered in Hannover, it said. Hermes, a unit of Otto Versand based in Hamburg, will have a stake in EP Europost of just under 50 pct, it said. jcm/cmr Copyright 2001 AFX News.
