DHL launches intra-European airfreight solution

DHL Global Forwarding (DGF), the air and ocean freight business of Deutsche Post World Net announced its intra-European, overnight transport solution for the life sciences industry.

Called “Airfreight Plus for the Life Sciences Industry”, the service combines the speed of express with the individual care of a freight forwarder, providing day-definite, door-to-door delivery of heavyweight goods across 32 European countries. For DGF’s life sciences industry customers, this means not only late cut-off times and next-day service, but also temperature-controlled facilities, minimal tarmac times and dedicated handling of shipments by trained life sciences staff.

Transportation of +2°C to +8°C goods includes door-to-door freight management with LifeConEx, DGF’s joint venture company specializing in the management of temperature-controlled life sciences industry goods. This service is optionally available for ambient shipments as well (+2°C to +25°C).

“Whether high-value, bulky, temperature-controlled or dangerous goods, our Airfreight PLUS service offers a choice in delivery speed to best suit our customers’ delivery requirements,” says Bart de Vries, Head of Airfreight Europe/CEE.

“We’re bringing together the network of DHL with Global Forwarding’s secured air freight capacity and we’re combining fixed processes with individual service, so it’s a perfect tool for optimizing sensitive life sciences industry supply chains.”

As with DGF’s other Airfreight Plus services, life sciences customers can take advantage of DHL Global Forwarding’s shipment tracking system. Moreover, with its optional 24 hour service for pharmaceutical shipments called Pharma Control Tower, DHL Global Forwarding is able to take over the entire freight management for all life science industry customers.

DHL Global Forwarding’s Airfreight Plus solution for the life sciences industry compliments DHL Freight’s new COLDCHAIN solution for intra European LTL road transportation. Together, both products offer the industry sector optimal transport solutions across Europe.
