UPU: Agreement on the creation of a worldwide technical support centre

The UPU have signed an agreement with the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (PUASP).

The UPU has five Regional Support Centres (Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Tunisia, Tanzania (United Rep.) and Singapore), which are attached to the PTC in Berne.

The new worldwide technical support centre will allow the UPU to improve its service provision to operators.

In response to increased demands from member countries, the Montevideo Centre will operate round the clock, five days a week, providing first-level assistance to users of the International Postal System (IPS) and International Financial System (IFS) applications developed by the PTC and tracking data exchanged via the UPU’s POST*Net network.

From its side, the PTC will focus on developing technical applications and on monitoring and coordinating activities.
