DHL Express strengthens its hold in Latin America

DHL Express has officially opened its new USD 6.2m gateway hub at Mexico City’s International Airport.

DHL Express has officially opened its new USD 6.2m gateway hub at Mexico City’s International Airport.
It claimed the site could handle 100,000 shipments each month and was one of the most technologically advanced in the country.
The site is part of DHL Express’ 5-year plan to strengthen its position in the region.
Roger Crook CEO of DHL Express International Americas said: “Our commitment to the region remains strong and, although we realize the current challenges in the global economy, it is important for DHL to foster and establish a solid base that will enable commercial trade in the region today, tomorrow and in the future.”
DHL Express recently spent US$4.5m on a new hub in Panama, increasing handling capacity by 250% and allowing DHL to handle up to 5,000 packages per hour.
It also opened a state-of-the-art gateway facility in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
