A DHL distribution centre in Dumfries, Scotland, is facing closure with the loss of up to 63 jobs.

A DHL distribution centre in Dumfries, Scotland, is facing closure with the loss of up to 63 jobs.

Workers at the depot were told this week that the company was entering a 30-day consultation period over the future of the site. It’s understood some workers could be transferred to other depots but the company’s proposal is to close the one in Dumfries.

A DHL spokesman said: “DHL can confirm it has entered a period of consultation with its employees at its Dumfries site.

“The site currently employs 63 staff and the exact number of people affected by the proposal will be determined during the 30-day consultation process.

“DHL is committed to a full and open consultation process with its employees and their elected representatives.

“As this process has only just started, we are not able to comment on the outcome of the consultation at this time.

“We would like to thank the team at the Dumfries site for their on-going contribution and dedication.”

The site has been run by DHL since 2002.
