Media House, the Scottish public relations and crisis management company, has been hired by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) to help it fight government plans to part-privatise the Royal Mail.
The firm is understood to be supplying the CWU with political and strategy advice over the bid by TNT for a stake in Royal Mail.
Former Sun journalist and Media House executive chairman Jack Irvine is leading the work for the CWU, which has been at the forefront of opposition to moves to bring the private sector into the Royal Mail.
He is understood to be working with a team including experts in fraud, tax and security.
