DHL earns Singapore postal license
DHL Global Mail has been granted a Postal Services Operator License from the Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) to transport private and confidential mail to and from Singapore.
DHL Global Mail has been granted a Postal Services Operator License from the Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) to transport private and confidential mail to and from Singapore.
“The Postal Services Operator License enables DHL to offer customers an even wider breadth of services. Customers will benefit from fast, dependable deliveries at cost savings of up to 30% as compared to pre-postal deregulation,” said Patrick Martin, managing director, Global Mail Asia/EMA.
After the liberalisation of the market in 2007, DHL is now among a number of independent accredited licensees allowed to serve the market.
Sergio Cravedi, VP business development, Asia-Pacific, DHL Global Mail, said: “Over 90% of Singapore’s mail volume is generated by business customers. Among these, the financial industry is a key generator of cross border mail, accounting for well over 30% international mail shipments from Singapore.”
“Singapore is a growing market for international mail services and we welcome DHL’s decision to be a Postal Service Operator in Singapore. The liberalisation of the market has provided an opportunity for mail service providers to emerge with innovative solutions to diversify postal products and services, and stimulate market growth. Businesses and consumers will stand to benefit through more of such service innovation and competition,” said Leong Keng Thai, director-general (Telecoms and Post), Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
