GERMANY: PUBLISHER TO INVEST IN MAIL DELIVERY.
From , April 4th, 2001

COPYRIGHT 2001 Information Access CompanyIn 2001, German publisher Dresdner Druck- und Verlagshaus GmbH plans to
purchase a mail sorting machine in order to handle the increasing letter
volume. Together with logistics group Fiege, the publisher of Sachsische Zeitung has been active in mail delivery since the end of
1999. To date, the publisher bet on manual mail sorting. Despite the manual
work, costs were kept low and in 2001, a profit is to be made. In 2000, the
loss amounted to DM 200,000. Dresdner Druck- und Verlagshaus delivered up to
320,000 letters per month. In order to break even, 370,000 letters per month
are needed. Page 27 COPYRIGHT 2001 Gale GroupSUEDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG, 04th April 2001
