CTT Correios Optimizes Track and Trace Performance Using Escher

Escher Group Limited, a leading provider of solutions to the postal industry, today announced that CTT Correios de Portugal has selected WebRiposte(TM) to offer new levels of track and trace services for its registered letters delivery system. WebRiposte is Escher's Web-enabled, peer-to-peer messaging solution that includes content distribution and storage. WebRiposte will simplify the customer's access to track and trace and will provide management and operational data on the delivery performance of registered items. "It was an easy decision. We have been a customer of Escher Group's since 1999
and have experienced the power of Riposte(R) in automating our post office
counters. WebRiposte extends the functionality of our current platform and
will enable us to embrace the efficiencies of the Internet in order to
remain competitive," said Mr. Carlos Dias Alves, Board Member of CTT Correios de
Portugal. With the introduction of its new registered letters system, CTT
anticipates an increase in mail volume being processed through its network. CTT required a reliable, robust solution capable of handling thousands of letter items on a daily basis. WebRiposte provides both tactical benefits to the project in terms of simplifying the deployment process and strategic benefits by
allowing the solution to be deployed over the Internet directly into customer
locations. The WebRiposte platform also serves as the foundation upon
which other distributed, Web-based applications can be built. Other evaluation
criteria included data transfer facilities for customers,
broader access to track and trace, expansion capabilities, thin client
support and access to multiple Web sites. Future plans for CTT will include a
heterogeneous application deployment environment and new e-commerce
offerings including postal banking. "We are thrilled that WebRiposte is being
embraced by current Riposte users," said Martin McAdam, vice president of sales and marketing for Escher Group.
"WebRiposte is a natural extension of the Riposte product set which has a
proven track record of success in facilitating online transaction
processing in diverse, distributed computing environments." During the initial
phase, CTT will concentrate on deploying WebRiposte within
the registered letter delivery system. In subsequent phases, WebRiposte
will be rolled out to all existing Riposte locations and various processing
centers throughout the country.
