Spain Post: Q1 Sales Up 12.3%

Spanish post office Correos y Telegrafos said on Monday that it had boosted its first quarter sales by 12.3 percent over the same period last year to 377.1 million euros. Net profits were up 36.9 percent to 8.3 million euros said a statement released by Correos’ Director General Alberto Nunez Feijoo, with operating profits rising by 156 percent to 13.4 million euros. The number of shipments reached 1.32 billion, including a 4.4 percent rise in basic mail which accounted for 73 percent of volume. The biggest growth sector was shown by the Paquete Axul packages service, up by 14.4 percent,” Reuters reports.
