FedEx Express enhances online data tracking with FedEx Desktop

FedEx Express has pioneered a new, state-of-the-art desktop tracking tool to provide customers in UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait with real-time visibility on the status of their shipments. FedEx Desktop will help customers save valuable time by sending automatic real-time shipment updates and status summaries directly to the customer’s desktop until the shipment is delivered.

Available to download free-of-charge from fedex.com, FedEx Desktop takes just minutes to download and install on the computer. By eliminating the need to open the Internet browser or log on to fedex.com, FedEx Desktop offers customers access to package information of shipments sent via FedEx Ship Manager. Users can also add FedEx tracking numbers manually into the application.

Its full range of tracking functions includes a ‘drag and drop’ feature which allows customers to drag details of their shipment onto their desktop, or the ability to give shipments ‘nicknames’ to help with tracking purposes. Users who don’t want to see the program running on their desktop can choose to let the application run in the background and receive critical alerts via a pop up screen.

“FedEx Desktop is an evolution of our commitment to innovation and online data management and we’re confident in its ability to give our customers the functionality, speed and ease of use they require, and have come to expect of FedEx services. Experience tells us that FedEx customers want greater clarity about the status of their shipments and the ability to manage tracking data based on individual preferences,” said Andrew Self, vice president, Marketing & Communications, FedEx Express Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa.

Available across in English in the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait, FedEx Desktop joins a suite of other multi-channel shipment visibility tools offered by FedEx. Since the launch of fedex.com, the site has continued to grow exponentially with 20m unique visitors a month and over 6m daily tracking requests, meeting customer needs for increased value and convenience through innovative tracking technologies.
