DHL to open seven terminals

DHL Express is aiming to open seven terminals for sending mail and parcels to clients in the coming two years, Polish News Bulletin reported. The first of them began operations this week in Czechowice-Dziedzice, while another will be launched in a few days in Radom. The costs of one such terminal is around US$7m.

“This endeavour is part of our investment scenario for the years 2009-2010,” DHL Express president Tomasz Buras said.

“We have decided to keep going with investments in spite of the tangible effects of the crisis.” He added that the region managed by the terminal in Czechowice-Dziedzice was one of the precious few upon which the slowdown had not had a serious impact. In the last four years, the numbers of delivered parcels have gone up by 57% there and even last year there was visible growth. DHL Express is one of the biggest delivery companies in Poland – it constitutes 38% of the market.
