DHL expands focus on oil and energy sector

DHL has announced plans to develop its logistics services and infrastructure for the global oil and energy market in Asia. Under the strategy, a dedicated Oil and Energy Centre of Excellence (COE) was recently opened in Singapore to serve the Asia Pacific region, staffed by more than 200 employees.

Similar facilities have also been established by DHL in the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“The growing global demand for energy, and the exploration of alternative energy sources, presents key opportunities for logistics companies,” said Hermann Ude, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. “As the world’s leading logistics company, we are well-positioned to develop new approaches and set new benchmarks in the industry.”

DHL’s focus on the oil and energy sector – spanning both fossil and renewable energies – follows a trade report that the industry currently spends about EUR 260bn on logistics globally.
