DHL tie up deal

DHL Supply Chain has won a UK contract renewal worth £4.3m with accessories and clothing retailer Tie Rack, reports Road Transport. The article continues:

The logistics firm will manage the warehousing for the Tie Rack and Rolling Luggage brands until at least 2012, servicing 237 stores.

The firm will handle cross-docking, pick-and-pack and returns handling.

As part of the deal, DHL will also manage a Hong Kong-based consolidation centre to aid a quicker supply route to markets in the Far East and Australia.

“This year we were able to leverage DHL’s global reach to extend our support beyond UK operations into an international supply chain solution through the opening of the Hong Kong consolidation centre,” says Jonathan Pilbro, business director, UK and Ireland, DHL Supply Chain, Fashion.

“This now presents a strong platform that supports growth into new markets in the Far East, including new stores in China.”
