USPS award AT&T extension
AT&T Government Solutions has won a $120m contract extension to provide management and engineering services to support USPS networks, reports Washington Business Journal. The article continues:
Under AT&T’s Postal Advanced Telecommunications Network contract, the Oakton-based telecom services provider will provide managed network services, including Internet protocol (IP) address management, design and engineering, onsite installations, router and firewall services and interactive voice response services.
“To meet the continued demand for bandwidth, agencies like the US Postal Service must be able to enhance their networks in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Don Herring, senior vice president, AT&T Government Solutions, AT&T Global Services Inc.
AT&T is using a multiprotocol switching technology to operate and manage the Postal Service’s networks, which it says helps provide the bandwidth necessary to securely and efficiently expand software application use across organizations.
AT&T’s contract extension is for four years.
