USPS offers reward after attack

USPS is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who assaulted a mail carrier in Boston. Police say the 41-year-old female postal service employee was delivering mail in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood on Thursday when the knife-wielding suspect approached from behind and pinned her to the ground.

He demanded money, but ran off when the victim sprayed him with pepper spray meant to ward off aggressive dogs.

The victim was treated at a hospital for a large bruise and lacerations on her back, then released.

U.S. Postal Inspector Bernadette Lundbohm tells The Boston Globe that the victim got a good look at her attacker.
