Correos chooses Capgemini for system revamp

Capgemini España has been selected by Correos to provide an improvement service for its Financial and Economic Information and Management System (SGEYF) and Stamp Unit (SGUF). To help Correos in its goal of improving the postal service, Capgemini will implement corrective and evolutive maintenance centering on the SAP platform: SAP R/3, SAP CRM and SAP Business Information Warehouse.

Juan Jesús Torres Carbonell, director of tecnología and systems, Correos, said: “One of our goals is to become more efficient in our processes and back office systems. I am sure Cagpemini professionals will help us to achieve ever greater efficiencies in the level of service we provide to our customers.”

Ramón Fiol, vice president and postal sector head of Capgemini España, said: “This agreement represents a major step forward for Capgemini in the postal sector in collaboration with a key player such as the post office. The deal strengthens our market position and represents excellent value in this space. Our commitment to the success of the project has been a decisive factor in achieving this goal.”

The maintenance service covers all aspects of the control, correction and prevention of incidents in both the Financial & Economic Information and Management System and the Stamp Unit. Capgemini has also been entrusted with the evolutive maintenance of these systems, undertaking the improvement of the systems, and the implementation of new functionalities and the expansion of existing ones. The project also involves the alignment of these systems with the State Agency System Plan and its integration with the rest of the National Postal Service’s systems.

In addition, Capgemini will provide Correos with a group of technology experts to support the IT executives of the postal service and contribute their vision of how the new technological trends will influence their business processes and particularly the back-office ERP systems (SAP). For this initiative, Capgemini will use the Correos Technology Management System methodology (MARCO Methodology) that the consulting firm has already used in various projects and services provided to the state agency in the past.

The project length is 12 months and will be executed remotely from the Capgemini offices in Spain, although certain tasks will be carried out at the client offices.
