Vanderlande provides new sorting system to MTN

Vanderlande Industries has won the order to deliver a new parcel sorting system to MTN, part of the Italian logistics and express courier company Log Service Europe Group. Within Log Service Europe, MTN is responsible for express service operations. The new system will be located in Monticelli, about 80 km south-east of Milan.

This is the second Vanderlande system to be installed at MTN, following the first POSISORTER system in Castelmaggiore, near Bologna, which was put into operation five years ago. The order for the new system in Monticelli was awarded to Vanderlande Industries after a competitive tender, in which the customer’s satisfaction with the earlier Castelmaggiore project proved to be decisive.

The new sorting system is designed for a capacity of 4,000 parcels per hour, and consists of 4 infeeds and 2 POSISORTERS with a total of 42 destination outfeeds. The system includes a fully automatic high‑throughput in-line labelling system, and CCD camera scanners for automated barcode reading. Hand-over to the customer is scheduled for the first half of November 2010.
