Jersey Post consults public over changes

Members of the public are being asked for their views on proposed changes to Jersey’s postal service, reports the BBC. The article continues:

There could be fewer deliveries and collections from the States-owned Jersey Post under the plans, as the government tries to save money.

A document asking for the public’s views is being sent to all homes on the island.

Up to 80 jobs at Jersey Post will be lost over the next four years under restructuring plans.

Changes announced in January, which include voluntary redundancies, will be phased in and will be completed by the end of 2013.

Jersey Post has said it needs to introduce changes to its workforce to remain competitive and commercially viable.

Its revenue has been falling because less mail is being delivered to an increasing numbers of homes on the island.
