La Poste: CGT-PTT denounce sabotage of a public service
French union CGT-PTT, representing postal workers, called on employees and users of French post office La Poste to ‘oppose all forms of public service sabotage’, denouncing the deterioration of the public service and the increased insecurity’ felt in the company.
La Poste is accused of shutting itself off and satisfying itself with unimportant social agreements while hiding the reality of the situation, such as the job fears among employees and the cutting of 10,000 civil servant jobs in three years. The management responds that between 1998 and 2000 the number of civil servants decreased from 236,500 to 228,600, but at the same time the number of contracted agents increased from 45,000 to 58,000.
