Steele resigns from Guernsey Post
Gordon Steele has resigned as chief executive of Guernsey Post. The company said the mutual decision was taken due to a “difference of opinion regarding the future direction of the company”.
Dudley Jehan, chairman of the Post, said: “The Board and I would like to thank Gordon for the valuable contribution he has made over the last three years. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
Boley Smillie has been appointed as interim chief executive. The Board are due to meet this week to consider who will take over the role permanently.
Guernsey Post said the decision could take some time.
The surprise departure comes only a week after Steele spoke about the future in Guernsey Post’s 2010 Annual Report: “The biggest changes will be in our postal operation and we are in discussion with our unions to remove overtime and change the number of duties and rounds and jointly review the pension scheme. These efficiencies will be significant as well as challenging to implement,” he said.
