Delivery times extended by Poste Italiane

Poste Italiane has announced that it is to extend its delivery times. The decision has been taken in order to meet increased demand from SMEs and B2C customers.

Under the new plans, priority and registered mail will be delivered from 8am to 4pm, with a premium delivery service running from 2pm to 8pm.

Poste Italiane CEO Massimo Sarmi said: “The way we communicate has changed dramatically in recent years and is evolving in terms of instruments used and the timing, just think of electronic communication.

“This is also the model delivery needs to adapt to the changing needs of people. Italian Post Office has analysed the new situation and this agreement is a response to the change of scenery and customs.

“The agreement confirms the capacity for dialogue and sense of responsibility shown by the company and unions to identify the most effective organisational arrangements, which will allow us to offer high value-added and effective solutions to these new needs.”

The plans have been welcomed by the unions.
