Estonian Post forum to provide glimpse of the future

Estonian Post is today (September 23) hosting the PostEurop AES (Advanced Electronic Solutions) Forum in Tallinn. The event, which continues into tomorrow (September 24), will allow PostEurop members to discuss the growing impact of IT on postal and logistics industries, and to find ideas for future challenges.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it – so that we can avoid the risks to the traditional postal service. In order to move along with growing globalisation and development of electronic services, we must implement innovative up-to-date solutions,” said secretary general of PostEurop, Botond Szebeny.

The head of Estonian Post’s Infologisatics Division, Toomas Türk, said: “Estonian Post is internationally active to offer electronic solutions; we are looking to foreign markets to expand business activities as well as to offer postal e-solutions – Logistics Information System, e-billing platform, address data warehouse. This international event will certainly help to achieve our targets.”

The postal service market has undergone major changes in recent years as traditional operators move more and more to electronic channels.

Also, European postal market opening is increasing competition and leads to changes in the services in order to modernise them and improve accessibility.

Topics addressed by the forum will include hybrid mail and the use of geographical information systems.

Speakers will include executives from Siemens, DHL and the UPU.
