Umundum joins Austrian Post Board

Peter Umundum has been appointed to the Austrian Post Management Board with responsibility for Parcels & Logistics. Umundum will begin a three-year contract with the Post and succeeds Carl-Gerold Mende, who will vacate his post at the end of March.

Supervisory Board chairman, Peter Michaelis said: “Following a professional application and selection process, with Peter Umundum we are able to present an excellent manager, who has already occupied leading positions within the company since 2005 and who is well acquainted with the challenges in the Parcel & Logistics Division.

“I am convinced that with Peter Umundum as part of the Board team, Austrian Post is ideally equipped to maintain its success in the dynamic postal market.”

In response Georg Pölzl, Austrian Post chairman, added: “I know Peter Umundum from our joint activities over the past 12 months and estimate him as a manager, who both get things done and possesses the necessary strategic acumen. I am convinced that under his leadership, the growth policy adopted for our parcels and logistics business in Austria and our international participations can continue to be managed successfully.”

In 1999, Umundum founded and assumed the position of CEO at redmail. In 2001, he became managing director of the “Die Presse” daily newspaper and three years later he joined the executive management of the “Kleine Zeitung” daily newspaper.

In 2005 he moved to Austrian Post as one of the managing directors of the Letter Division, which is the company’s largest business area.

In addition, he assumed responsibility for the national subsidiaries, feibra GmbH and Wiener Bezirkszeitung, and the international subsidiaries Weber Escal d.o.o. in Croatia and Scanpoint Europe.

He is also a member of the advisory boards for the company’s participations in Slovakia and Hungary, as well as Austrian Post International in Germany and meiller direct.
