Royal Mail hits delivery targets

Royal Mail has said it has exceeded UK post and parcel delivery targets for the company’s second quarter. First and Second Class Mail, business bulk mail and Standard parcels have been delivered ahead of quality targets, according to the latest independent research published today (30 November).

A total of 93.7% of First Class stamped and metered mail was delivered the next working day after posting – ahead of the 93% target.

Second Class stamped and metered mail achieved a 99% performance, ahead of the target of 98.5% to be delivered within three working days after posting.

Standard parcels were also above target at 96.8%, against a target of 90%.

The details are contained in Royal Mail’s quality of service report covering the second quarter of 2010/11.

Mark Higson, Royal Mail’s managing director, said: “These results have been delivered alongside Royal Mail’s wide-ranging modernisation programme. They are a credit to our postmen and women’s commitment and dedication to our customers.”
