Correos increases postal prices in Spain

Spanish operator Correos has revealed an increase in prices for postal services. The cost of posting domestic letters and cards weighing up to 20g has risen by one cent to EUR 0.35.

In addition, the postage for letters between 21-50g has risen to EUR 0.50, up five cents.

Correos said the move is necessary to ensure its universal service is conducted at the highest quality levels.

“This decision, adopted by the State Corporation Post Office, aims at a gradual adjustment costs, income maintenance and, above all, quality and efficiency in the provision of universal postal service,” the operator said in a statement.

Pricing for international letters and cards has also been updated. The standard European letter rate for weights up to 20g has risen one cent to EUR 0.65.

Certified mail heading to Europe will now cost EUR 2.95, up seven cents.

Standard letters bound for outside Europe will cost EUR 0.80, up two cents.

Despite the increase – which came into force on January 1 – Correos confirmed they still remain one of the cheapest services in Europe.
