China Post sets rural delivery goal

China Post has set a target to cover all villages in the country by 2015. The objective was revealed by Ma Junsheng, the State Post Bureau director-general.

Junsheng was speaking on Tuesday the company’s annual work conference.

According to Xinhua, Ma expects to develop “a number of postal enterprises with annual income of over 10bn yuan ($1.51bn) each”.

The director general was also cited as wanting to grow industry revenue to 0.5% of gross domestic product value over the next five years.

As well as expanding its rural service, Ma also said China Post is looking to increase its letter box coverage in urban areas.

Earlier this month, Post&Parcel reported that China Post had entered an agreement with Hongkong Post to expand the latter’s cross-border direct mail service in mainland China.
