U.S. Postal Service and LanChile Partner to Stimulate Trade Between US and Latin America

LanLogistics, a subsidiary of LanChile S.A., (“LanChile” or “the Company”) (NYSE:LFL), and The United States Postal Service announced today a new partnership created to enhance trade in the Americas. Together the two organizations will provide fast, economical and reliable shipping service from countries throughout Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean to final destinations in the United States.

The service will be marketed in all countries in the region. Shipments will be picked up by SkyNet Worldwide Express, a division of LanLogistics. They will then be flown to the United States, where they will be delivered as Priority Mail by the U.S. Postal Service. Delivery times are expected to be as fast as 2 to 3 days for most shipments.

The combined strengths of the U.S. Postal Service and LanLogistics will give businesses and consumers throughout the Americas an improved opportunity to reach customers in the U.S. Currently these mailers must choose between premium-priced expedited shipping options and regular mail service, which often does not meet the needs of business shippers and consumers. By combining the local market knowledge and expertise of LanLogistics with the efficiencies offered by the Postal Service’s Priority Mail, shipments will be both fast and cost effective.

Trade between the United States and Latin America equals $375 billion annually. More than 40 million shipments are exported from Latin America into the United States each year, and this partnership offers a new option to businesses and consumers who wish to reach the U.S. market. In addition, it provides a revenue opportunity to the Postal Service by increasing inbound Priority Mail volume. The U.S. Postal Service delivers to 134 million addresses in the United States six days a week.

LanChile is the largest domestic and international passenger/cargo air carrier in Chile and one of the leading airlines in Latin America. Together with its various code-share arrangements, the Company serves 15 destinations in Chile, 17 destinations throughout other cities in Latin America, 16 destinations in the United States, eight destinations in Europe and two in the South Pacific.

Currently, the Company operates 40 passenger aircraft and eight cargo freighters. LanChile maintains alliances with American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, AeroMexico, TAM, Varig, British Airways and Iberia and is an official member of the oneworld global alliance.
