Crook replaces Ude on Deutsche Post DHL board

Deutsche Post DHL has appointed Roger Crook to the Board of Management responsible for DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. Crook was previously in charge of the business unit DHL Express Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

He replaces Hermann Ude, who will leave the company at then end of this month, having agreed on an early termination of his Board membership by mutual consent.

Ude leaves the company “amid diverging views on the future strategic focus of the company”, a statement said. However, he exits Deutsche Post DHL “on the best of terms”.

It confirmed that “the company and Ude have reached a termination agreement which lies within the framework of the German Corporate Governance Codex.”

The Supervisory Board expressed its gratitude to Ude for his “successful work in effectively leading and further developing the Global Forwarding, Freight Business Unit”.

Crook has run the Group’s Express business in Asia since the end of 2010. He is a member of the global Board of Management for Express and in addition oversees all global sales activities of the business unit.

Previously, he held the position of CEO DHL Express Americas. He has also held other responsibilities in the US, as well as Europe. Crook also played a material part in the creation of Global Customer Solutions, the global unit he co-founded in 2002 to look after the Group’s top 100 customers. Crook will be based in Bonn and Singapore.

Wulf von Schimmelmann, chairman of the Supervisory Board, said: “Roger Crook has more than two decades of experience in the logistics industry. He has been active on three continents and intimately understands the needs of global customers.

“With this decision, we are confident to be well prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the DHL Global Forwarding, Freight business unit.”

The Supervisory Board has also extended the board member mandate of Ken Allen, CEO of DHL Express, by another five years starting 1 March 2012.
